Surging Accies Just Fall Short The Harrow Accies did themselves proud last night when, after going 1:0 up to second in the league E – Pulse they almost secured a second before battling to an eventual 3:2 defeat. The game started with Harrow playing an adventurous 3 man defence and 5 man midfield. This paid early dividends when Darren Wise momentarily mistook the match ball for a steak and kidney pasty and slammed the ball into the net before devouring it with a chip side salad. The Accies continued to press, although the E – Pulse number 7 was causing lots of problems with his high octane speed and tremendous swan diving. Brian Van Den Burgh almost secured a second for the Accies when, after a strong run straight through the heart of the E – Pulse defence he drew the goalie only to see his well struck shot go narrowly wide. E – Pulse now started to engage in all kinds of gamesmanship and, with the Accie boys rattled the locals decided to stand offside and, with the linesman still stroking his Labrador dog, scored 3 goals in quick succession to put the Thai lads on top. The half time whistle blew with the Harrow boys frustrated by some decisions that seemed a little on the generous side to the locals, but the yellow card given to the Thai number 7 for diving in the box was welcomed by full back Riley with the overheard words of “bad luck old chap. Better luck next time.” The second half was one way traffic with the Accies winning every 50 – 50 challenge and it was no surprise when a rampaging Wise, starting to get hunger pangs since the match ball starter, almost devoured the E – Pulse centre halves before rolling the ball into an open net. Paul Livesy almost secured the all important equalizer near the end and, with the Accies pressing mercilessly the referee’s whistle was relief for the E – Pulse boys and frustration for the Harrow Indomitable Lions.
